Overview
Two (2) 2500 TON SALT STORAGE BUILDINGS, 7,141sq.ft.ea. Exterior: Wood pole building, consisting of metal panel siding and roof, concrete floor slab. Interior: Precast T Walls to contain the salt pile. Drawings and specification attached.
Contractor to be a licensed roofer in the state of Iowa.
DOT Estimated Start Date: To be coordinated with project manager once notice to proceed email has been issued.
Estimated Completion date: September 15 , 2023
Davis-Bacon wages do not apply.

Question With the corrosive nature of salt, do you want special nails? A coating on the truss plates? Purlins on top of the trusses to eliminate the metal purlin hanger brackets? Dripstop on the underside of the roof metal?
Answer
Fasteners are called out as galvanized. Yes. Eliminate metal brackets and plates where possible as part of the suppliers standard design. Dripstop not required.

Question On the drawing it says “treated wall girts” so does that mean all the wall girts or just the bottom one.

Wood to be treated where in contact with ground.

Question The drawings say “metal roof panels” and the specs list all of the options of 28 gauge galvalume, 29 gauge G90, & 26 gauge galvalume. Could you clarify which steel you want?
Answer

  1. Roofing and siding specification has been updated in addendum.

Question Is a bid bond required? if yes, what is the amount?
Answer A bid bond is not required for this project however the awarded contract may be required to produce a performance bond. See attribute #3 for more information.

Question Does the slab contractor treat the slab with concrete defender or are we responsible to do this?
Answer That will be an addendum they do have the create defender in their project scope already so this will be amended as part of the front cover for all bidders.

Answer Yes, they have been included as part of the work going on with the maintenance garage.

Question They will need time this spring to get prepped it is not done at this point if I understand it is that correct?
Answer The initial grading has been done already and any of the additional work that needs to be regarding the paving will need to be done by the contractor.

Just clarification on the dirt work.
Answer Reference the cover page has the project notes, site prep has been done for the project. The premanufactured exterior shell will be the contractors responsibility and we do have another contractor on the site so coordination with them will be required.

Who is providing the rebar?

Answer

Answer: Please reference cover page note number 7 and 9. Reinforcing rebar at slab / pre-cast tee will be provide by other and is not part of this work. However, pre-cast tee engineer to provide slab perimeter / “T” wall connection (rebar reinforcing) detail that is adequate support for the salt aggregate structural load without reliance on an exterior berm.

Question Please clarify who is supposed to seal the control joints in the floor slab.

Control joint sealing of the floor slab is not part of this project scope. It will be sealed by other.
