The project consists of removing existing roof membrane, ballast, and insulation and replacing with new ballasted EPDM membrane with insulation and vapor barrier per drawings and specifications.
Contractor to be a licensed roofer in the state of Iowa.
DOT Estimated Start Date: To be coordinated with project manager once notice to proceed email has been issued.

Question The SPECS call out for the following:
• 60 mil EPDM, with a SBS modified it adhesive vapor barrier, and polyisocyanurate (ISO), new rock ballast
o This is calling out for ISO in lieu of EPS insulation and it does not mention a coverboard

Please advise what roofing system is being desired for this project.
Answer

Ballasted EPDM with polyisocyanurate over vapor barrier. No cover board. Bid expanded polystyrene as alternate. Refer to Addendum2.

Question We wanted to confirm the type of roofing system that is being bid for this project.

The drawings on Sheet A-3 call out for the following:
•NEW BALLASTED BLACK EPDM MEMBRANE OVER EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE INSULATION TO PROVIDE MINIMUM LTTR OF R-30 TAPER TO EXISTING SCUPPERSCOVER WITH 1/4" ROOF COVER BOARD
•It also has a note that says “NEW ROOF SURFACE TO BE 60 MIL EPDM FULLY ADHERED”
•All the details show rock ballast and LTTR R-30 expanded polystyrene roof insulation, but no coverboard
Answer Ballasted EPDM with polyisocyanurate over vapor barrier. No cover board. Bid expanded polystyrene as alternate. Refer to Addendum 2.
