Special Requirements and Bidding Information: Story County, Collins Township, T-82N-R21W, Section 26.
Project Location: Mile Marker 103.05 and Station 1248+38+/-
Project Overview:
The damaged tile in need of repair is approximately 10-12 feet deep straight down from the edge of the HMA shoulder and broke near the south wall of the box culvert. The fore slope of the west ditch will need to be dug out and shoring placed to stabilize the existing subgrade for repairs to be made. Repaired tile section shall be connected to existing Tile at a location where the existing tile is not damaged and clean connection can be made. Tile shall be replaced to the outlet at the existing box culvert. All disturbed shoulder and fore slope shall be restored with 95 percent compaction and reseeded with rural seed requirements.
1. Approx. 50 feet of solid wall 6-inch plastic pipe. Joints shall be wrapped with engineering fabric.
2. Standard Road Plan DR-306 can be referenced for attaching outlet to box culvert structure.
3. Standard Road Plan EC-103 shall be followed for restoring disturbed foreslope.
4. Table 2601.03.1 shall be referenced for reseeding Right of Way.
5. Shoring shall be required
6. Standard Road Plan for Traffic Control shall follow TC-202.
7. Shoulder shall be restored to original condition if removal is needed. 8inches H.M.A mix or 7" PCC required for repair. Shoulders of U.S 65 shall not be used for parking or storage of non-essential vehicles.

DOT estimated start date is to begin after bid award with completion as close to October 31, 2023.
It is the intent of the Iowa DOT to award the contract to the responsible bidder whose submitted quotation is the most advantageous to the Iowa DOT, cost and other factors considered. Other factors include, but are not limited to: meeting or exceeding mandatory requirements, proposed staffing, and meeting required time schedule.

Question We are looking to bid on the above project and do not see a specific bid bond amount in the paperwork. Can you please confirm what it is?
Answer There is no bid bond. On the attributes tab we call out that a performance and payment bond.

If the contracted amount is $25,000 or more, the successful Bidder must furnish a performance and payment bond covering the faithful performance of 100% of the Contract and the payment of all obligations arising thereunder. Iowa DOT will provide the Performance and Payment Bond Form 131070 upon contract award.

A Resident Commission Agent or attorney-in-fact must file a copy of the power of attorney.

Power of Attorney

Attorney-in-fact who signs the Proposal Guaranty and/or Performance Bond must file with each bond a certified and effectively dated copy of the Power of Attorney.
