Bid Questions
Question Could you describe or share an example of the output you are looking for?
Answer https://soilgrids.org/ provides similar data. However, the site for this project will be focused on the central USA and will need some additional functionality with respect to polygons (county, property boundaries) that contain zonal summaries of the soil data.

Question Could you please share an example of the data?
Answer Yes, similar rasters are available at: https://www.agron.iastate.edu/glsi/category/IA-gSSURGO/. However, this project will be expanding maps like these to multiple states (central USA). The interface will also need to include public polygon layers such as county boundaries and property boundaries.

Question Would mobile responsive be acceptable or would you prefer an actual mobile app?
Answer Mobile responsive would be acceptable, but we would still want an easy button set up on mobile devices for novice users.
Submitted 10/2/2023 06:45:02 PM (CT)
Question Do you have preferred tools you would like used on this project? Googlemaps? Mapbox? Leaflet? Others?
Answer We do have a preference towards open source solutions like Leaflet. However, that is not a requirement. The highest priority is an interface that impresses visually and provides high utility to the end users.

Question What is driving your team to seek an agency partner to provide these services at this time?
Answer We are generating new data products in support of public education efforts about soil sampling and soil change.
Submitted 10/2/2023 06:44:43 PM (CT)
Question Could you share a budget or range of acceptable costs for this project? (e.g under $50,000, $50,000-$100,000, $100,000-$250,000, $250,000+)
Answer Budgeting information will not be provided.
Submitted 10/2/2023 06:44:32 PM (CT)
Question Is there an incumbent for the contract? If so, can you please provide the incumbent name, current contract number, duration, historical level of effort, and value of the contract?
Answer There is not an incumbant.

Question Who is your current (or most recent) vendor?
Answer This is a new site.

Question Our company has plenty of GIS experience working with raster and vectors formats and preparing that data for online use, but we don't have an existing "online map interface." Would you consider using a widespread platform like ArcGIS Online that has numerous capabilities and interfaces built into the platform? Our part would just to help you leverage the capabilities for your customer base.
Answer We already have in-house experience with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS online. We need the online experience for users who are less experienced with GIS software and need to be impressed by the streamlined access to the information they are seeking.
Submitted 9/26/2023 12:52:34 PM (CT)
Question Will the online maps be public interfaces/apps, meaning that do not require authentication (username and password) to log in?
Answer There may not need to be authentication. We have an interest in collecting more information about users than the standard website tracking. Our current idea for how to collect information about industry/job role/intended use of the data is to require users to sign up for a free account where they include that information in their account profile.
