1. Which semester (Fall or Spring)
Answer: The course is currently taught in the Spring semester. However, the Curriculum Committee is considering shifting the course to the Fall semester of the second year. In future years, the ISU CVM would expect flexibility in negotiating the semester of the course offering with sufficient advance notice.
2. MWF or TTh course (assume 50 min lectures for MWF and 1:20 min lectures for TTh)
Answer: This is a three CR course, which implies 150 minutes of content per week. However, the mode of delivery is flexible, and might include lecture, on-line self-study modules, case discussion, and so forth, as appropriate for delivering and adequately practicing the material.
3. Time course is taught (CST)
Answer: The course is currently taught using a combination of self-study modules, and synchronous virtual discussion labs. The discussion labs are scheduled from 10:00 AM – Noon on Tuesdays (CST). However, course timing and modality are flexible, and would be negotiated with the vendor providing the course.
4. Course will be taught remotely, but will be "live"?
Answer: The course could be taught live (synchronously) or asynchronously, as long as it produces adequate learning outcomes and student satisfaction.
5. Is there a Lab with the course currently? Could we structure the course (with approval from ISU of course)?
Answer: The course currently employs a weekly 2-hour discussion lab; however, that is not required. The course could be structured differently, as negotiated between the course vendor and ISU.
6. Could we structure the course?
Answer: Yes, working with ISU to ensure proper educational outcomes.
7. Will you pay per entire course or per lecture hour?
Answer: The pricing structure is flexible, depending on what makes the most sense to the vendor. However, in comparing prices across bids, the university will consider the total estimated cost of offering the course.
8. What system are you using for exams (ExamSoft, Moodle, etc.). We assume we will be granted remote access to this system?
Answer: ISU uses Canvas as its learning management system (LMS), including for exams.
9. Will the instructor also be granted and adjunct or clinical associate professor status with the university?
Answer: No, the instructor would not automatically become part of the university faculty or receive faculty status. Instructors desiring affiliate faculty status could seek that designation through an appropriate college department.
