Iowa State University of Science and Technology (ISU) is soliciting information from qualified companies to provide & install new water chiller at Reiman Gardens Conservatory.
There will be a Mandatory Pre-bid/Site visit meeting for this bid, see Bid Activities Tab

Companies should read all materials carefully and note the due date.

Companies must direct all questions in reference to this RFQ to the University Representative using the QUESTIONS tab in the ISUbid system.
All Bids will be submitted through the ISUbid system.

Question
These are the questions/answers form the Mandatory Pre-bid meeting held July 6, 2 023. A revised drawing (REV1) has been provided (see attachment tab)


Q1- Will ISU/owner hire Johnson Controls for the control work, or will Contractor be responsible for hiring Johnson Controls?

Q2 - Will balancing of the unit be completed by ISU/owner or will Contractor be responsible for balancing?

Q3 - What is the maximum outside temperature for working on this unit?

Q4 - What type of glycol is currently in the unit?

Q5 - A heavy-duty crane will be needed to lift/set this unit. Does the bid address what happens if black top road is damaged during the replacement of the chiller?
Answer
A1 - Controls by owner- spec 23 64 23 3.01.H

A2 - ISU will provide balancing (if needed)

A3- Maximun temperature is 45 degrees.

A4- Dowfrost is currently in the unit. Any reference to "Ethylene Glycol" in the technical specifications/drawings should be replaced with Propylene Glycol.

A5 - Any damage to pavement, landscape, and building structure will be repaired to pre-construction/like new condition.

There will be an MANDATORY pre-bid meeting due to the nature of this RFP/RFQ. Hold all questions about the bid until the pre-bid meeting/walkthrough .
Attendance at the Pre-bid meeting (site visit) is required. Failure to attend or have representation at this meeting will result in the Contractor being ineligible to participate in the bid process

Pre-bid Meeting starting location; Reiman Gardens Conservatory , 1407 University Blvd., Ames, IA- (check in at the front desk for room info).
Parking for the pre-bid is available lot S1- on the North side of the Reiman Garden Conservatory (just in front of the Maintenance Building).
Please email wkfoster@iastate.edu with your intent to attend this mandatory pre-bid meeting/site visit.
No verbal statements by ISU or its representatives at this meeting will be binding. ISU will post all changes and material clarifications in the form of an addenda after the meeting.
