The City of Davenport, Iowa is seeking bids from qualified vendors for the clearing of vegetation along the berms of Black Hawk from Homestead to S Concord, and Walnut Creek from S Fairmount to S Concord and beyond along Daisy Avenue.

Question If we understand correctly, there are areas with tall grass (along Daisy Ave.) that could be reduced without concern but there are the areas along Walnut Creek and Blackhawk Creek that have significantly larger "vegetation" i.e. trees that would be more of the work focus for our estimate to the city to remove.
Answer This is correct. Anything in the areas specified that is above 6" shall be cut and removed.

Question In the description, it designates "clearing" of vegetation along the berms of the creek(s) listed...How low (close to the ground) does the vegetation need to be? Is the premise of the project to be able to mow these areas (do we need to flush tree stumps to the ground or grind them at all? Is the City looking for the weeds/ low growth vegetation mowed/mulched?
Answer Per Bid Item No 1 anything less than 6" shall be removed to not less than 24" below the ground for roots. Per Bid Item No. 2 above 6" shall be left 18"-24" cut above the ground with no root removal. Anything less than 6" shall be a mowable surface.
