Bid Questions
Question The permanent pavement marking (waterborne 4 inch, 24 inch and symbols) does not cover the entire work zone, if we need to remove the work zone pavement marking for the conflicting temporary pavement marking.
Answer It appears that the concern is related to the need to extend permanent pavement markings past what is shown in the plans and what the bid quantities are based upon. Payment for permanent pavement markings will be based upon the final quantity of pavement markings placed at the respective unit cost for that type of pavement marking. It is understood that more pavement marking may be needed during construction than what is shown in the plans.
Submitted 3/2/2023 09:08:02 AM (CT)
Question There is not bid item for pavement marking removal, is this to be considered a part of Traffic Control? Temporary pavement marking is incidental to TC, for what is marked on the plans-sheet 8 and 9.
Answer Pavement marking removal is incidental to the pavement marking bid item under which the pavement markings are to be applied under the current operation. If removing permanent pavement marking to apply temporary markings, the removal is incidental to Traffic Control. If removing permanent pavement marking in a location where permanent pavement markings are proposed, the markings are incidental to the appropriate pavement marking item.
