OPTICAL FIBER PURCHASE AND INSTALL

The City of West Des Moines, Iowa solicits interested firms to submit bids to acquire and install Single Mode Optical Fiber between two city facilities located in West Des Moines, IA.
Submittals shall be submitted in a sealed envelope marked "Data Center Fiber - ITS” will be received no later than 2:00 p.m., Central Time, on March 6, 2024, by:

The winning Vendor for this bid is expected to be a vendor capable of trenching, installing into prebuilt conduit network, terminating, and testing all individual strands to City properties. Included in the proposal are addresses and maps of the approved route in thru City-Owned Conduit that has been reserved for this project.
Scope of Work:
This request is for the installation, testing and providing the connection interfaces for our primary network cabling. The fiber optic cable will be used to connect core switches between an existing datacenter and our planned location for our primary datacenter. Fiber Optic cabling will be Single Mode Fiber, 144 strand cable with an outer diameter measurement no greater than 14mm. Minimum length of cable is 15,000 ft.

The City has recently completed its conduit infrastructure in this area, and the Vendor will utilize said infrastructure, along with needing to trench/bury fiber from the closest handhole to physical structure at each end. Vendor will also be responsible for supplying needed fiber optic mounting and fastening hardware throughout the install, along with including any associated fire stopping, labeling, testing, terminating, or facilities repair. The City will also be providing rack space for mounting termination hardware.
Interested Vendors are encouraged to come on-site for walk-through and additional measurements. Installation of fiber in conduit can be performed during any time, and scheduling for termination and testing, and “last mile” approaches into structures will need to be scheduled during the hours of 7:00 AM CST and 5:00 PM CST, Monday thru Friday. Expected completion date is August 30, 2024 by 5:00 PM CST

3. Provide presentation or layout of final drawings in PDF formats.

4. Provide final optical fiber cable testing results in an electronic format.

5. Possess appropriate equipment and experience to complete the project.
