Overview: The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking bids for; Mini-Split system with Heat & A/C, installed, and necessary electrical work as per specifications as outlined in RFB FY2024 #206 Scope & Specifications document (Attachments tab). The location for this project is the Williams, IA DOT Maintenance Garage located at 2110 Vail Avenue, Williams, IA 50271.


Scope (Line items are tied and one award will be issued) :

  • Provide and install mini split system with AC and heating in the break room for supplemental heating/cooling. Condenser unit for mini split can be placed at ground level on stand, either ground or wall mounted. Interior unit to be wall mounted as per specifications outlined in RFB FY2024 #206 Scope & Specifications packet (Attachment tab) . Work to be done during regular work hours and days M - F 7:00 - 3:30.
  • Electrical work to be included and coordinated by awarded contractor. Use existing electrical circuits, panel location noted on plans. Installation to be done by licensed electrical professionals.

Award: It is the intent of the Iowa DOT to award the contract to the responsible bidder whose submitted quotation is the most advantageous to the Iowa DOT, cost and other factors considered. Other factors include, but are not limited to: Meeting or exceeding mandatory requirements, proposed staffing, and meeting required time schedule.

  • Estimated start date -Upon issuance of award ( The date shall be coordinated with the IDOT Project Manager. (This is the estimated start date after all required documents are received (i.e., Insurance, performance bond and vendor signed contract).
  • Estimated project end date - 06 /15/2024 (This includes re solution to all punch list items, inspections and DOT acceptance typically used in construction bids).
Note: Contractors to propose a suggested revised completion date taking into consideration winter weather conditions. This is a required Attribute. See Attribute #12.

Site Visits: A pre-bid site visit is highly recommended but not required. To schedule a site visit, contractors must contact the Purchasing Agent overseeing the bid at kyle.williams@iowadot.us with a date and time of when the awarded contractor wishes to conduct a site visit before the question cutoff date/time.
