Overview:
The current hydronic heating system boiler room equipment, controls, piping, etc. needs replaced. The fluid in the system has only water and not glycol allowing the in-floor piping to freeze at the perimeter piping further reducing the heating needs within the building. The entire system needs flushed / cleaned to eliminate build-up in the system further reducing the efficiency. Also the existing 3 boilers are original to the building and have exceeded their life by several years. The exhaust vent and air intake piping are not installed correctly, and allows the exhaust to be sucked back in to the combustion air piping.
The existing system's piping will be flushed / cleaned, the boiler room piping will be reinstalled to meet the manufacturers requirements. All pumps will be replaced to allow glycol to be used in the system. Glycol will be installed along with a system feeder to provide protection from the future freezing. The boilers / controls will be replaced with 2 higher capacity, more energy efficient units. The exterior exhaust vent and air intake piping will be extended to meet the exhaust and mechanical code requirements.
We are seeking a Iowa Licensed Plumbing / Mechanical Contractor
DOT estimated start date to begin to May 8, 2023
Substantial completion date August 4, 2023
DOT Contract end date is August 18, 2023 this shall include all punch list items are completed, any inspections are completed and final has indicated final acceptance.
Materials are required 15 days after the NOTICE to proceed issued and submittals are reviewed and approved.
It is the intent of the Iowa DOT to award the contract to the responsible bidder whose submitted quotation is the most advantageous to the Iowa DOT, cost and other factors considered. Other factors include, but are not limited to: meeting or exceeding mandatory requirements, proposed staffing, and meeting required time schedule.
Warranty is required for parts and labor as per attribute.
Pre-bid meeting will be held virtually and it is highly recommended. Site visit is not required but DOT will schedule one upon request. To schedule a site visit please email the purchasing contact listed under the bid contact information with a date and time you would like to visit the site.
