Description of Work:
Construction of 300 ft runway pavement extension and displacement of Runway 12 threshold 500 ft. This project will include replacing Runway 12/30 lighting and re-painting of the entire runway.
Project Schedule Information:
Work shall commence upon approval of the contract by the Airport Commission and as stated in the Notice to Proceed. Due to University of Iowa Athletics related airfield operations, construction of the project shall not start until the Spring 2024 or there afterwards. Construction of the project must not also start until all materials to be incorporated in the project have been received and are ready for incorporation.
Phase 1 shall be defined as the work along Runway 12/30 not within the Runway Object Free Zone for Runway 07/25 or Taxiway Object Free Area for Taxiway A. Work under Phase 1 shall be completed in Forty (40) working days.
Phase 2 shall be defined as the work along Runway 12/30 within the Taxiway Object Free Area for Taxiway A. Work under Phase 2 shall be completed in five (5) working days. Phase 2 work shall be completed concurrently with Phase 1 work.
Phase 3 shall be defined as the work along Runway 12/30 within the Runway Object Free Zone for Runway 07/25 which required closure of the airport. Due to the amount of medical aircraft operations for the University of Iowa Hospitals, special restrictions apply to the Work under Phase 3. Work under Phase 3 shall be completed in a maximum of five (5) single separate four (4) hour closures. Each separate closure shall be allowed a maximum four (4) hour duration and shall be coordinated with airport operations a minimum of 72 hours in advance prior to the closure of the airport to accomplish Phase 3 work. Phase 3 work shall be completed concurrently with Phase 1 work.
The maximum total amount of working days allotted for the contract is Forty (40) working days. .
Liquidated damages as set forth in Section 00500 – Contract.
