With regards to the History Wall, how are the seams in the existing wall handled? What is the plan for the existing thermostat and fire alarm?

The seams line up with the graphics. The fire alarm horn strobe will need to stay as is, but the thermostat may be moved. Companies are to bid as specified. The potential moving of the thermostat can be discussed after the project is awarded.

I have been able to locate one company that can do this and received a quote. The company informed me that overlaminates on the vinyl detract from the glow of the product. They recommend using a dreamscape wallcovering with no laminate. Is this substitution approved?

Question
|
Currently some of the prints (the square cut ones) call out a MacTac Laminate. This is what is known as a calendar material. (basically standard) The bid requests it to be installed onto 3M 180-10cv3 vinyl. This is what is known as a cast vinyl (premium). We do not mix calendar vinyl and cast vinyl. The lamination will separate from the vinyl and ruin both. Talking to three other printing companies, they have told us the same thing.
Therefor we will not be quoting the MacTac vinyl but rather substituting a different one we will call out in out quote. Is this approved?

Is there a certain type of wood or stain finish you would like for the 3rd & 4th floor photo bubble walls?

At this point, the wood and stain choice is simply "visual pleasing". ISU is not looking for any specific exotic wood.

The laminate choices and brands do not match with the specified 3M vinyl, which may cause installation and warranty issues. Is there a specific reason these laminates were chosen?

|
The laminates and vinyl have been extensively proven to work very well together. The MacTac Perma Flex 6300 Lamination works very well with the 3M ControlTac IJ180CV3 on wall murals and has a finish that is pleasing. The Arlon 3220 Overlaminate works very well with the 3M ControlTac IJ180CV3 and is easter to cut and weed on contour cut graphics.

For CYBowl South Entrance Billboard, the SEG fabric graphics is called out to be illuminated. Is the illumination to be supplied as part of this quote? Will Facilities Management be responsible for getting primary electrical to the location, or does the quote need to include the cost of an electrician pulling power to the location?

The illumination will be supplied as part of the quote. The electrical will terminate in a 4ft whip. Facilities maintenance will handle the electrical connection.

|
There are two different vinyl laminates that are called out for this project from two different manufactures. What is the intention behind the different laminates?

Answer
|
The MacTac Perma Flex 6300 Lamination is used for vinyl wallpaper murals where there is no contour cutting. The Arlon 3220 Overlaminate is used on vinyl applications that are contour cut.

Pre-Proposal Meeting & Site Visit
|
There will be an optional pre-proposal meeting and site visit due to the nature of this RFP/RFQ. The location of this meeting will begin at the base of the steps inside the west revolving door of the Memorial Union. The Memorial Union is located on the ISU campus at 2229 Lincoln Way.
No verbal statements by ISU or its representatives at this meeting will be binding. ISU will post all changes and material clarifications in the form of an addenda after the meeting. Contractors are strongly encouraged to attend the pre-proposal meeting. Failure to attend or have representation at the meeting will not result in the Contractor or individual being ineligible to participate in the competitive process.
